Hamshack.ca Update & 2026 Support Request

As we close out another year, I want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season and a healthy, rewarding 2026. Over the past five years, Hamshack.ca has grown into a vibrant meeting place for Canadian amateurs, and I’m grateful to every ham who visits the site, posts listings, buys and sells equipment, and helps keep the platform active and relevant.

Since Hamshack.ca was launched in November 2020, more than 9,400 listings have been posted, representing over $2.8 million in amateur radio equipment exchanged within our community. It has been remarkable to see operators from across the country connecting, trading, helping each other, and keeping equipment in circulation. Hamshack.ca has also expanded well beyond the buy-and-sell listings. The site now includes the QSL Academy, a unique learning platform designed to make studying clearer and more approachable for new and experienced hams alike. The Club Repository continues to grow with newly added clubs across Canada, helping operators find local communities, emergency communications groups, and training opportunities. In addition, the Vendor Directory features Canadian businesses that supply ham radio and related gear — making it easier for hams to find suppliers and supporters of the hobby.

In fact, today, the site is supported in part by 12 amateur-radio businesses through annual advertising fees, and I’m grateful for their participation. A few individual hams also donate after making a sale, and I sincerely appreciate their support. However, the reality is that advertising and the occasional donation do not always cover the cost of operating Hamshack.ca.

Hosting and software licensing costs now exceed $300 per month.

This past September, I experienced a life-altering event that shifted many of my priorities. While I continue to operate Hamshack.ca with pride, I am no longer able to shoulder the ongoing uncertainty of covering these monthly expenses alone.

If Hamshack.ca has been useful to you — whether for buying or selling equipment, completing QSL courses, finding local clubs, locating vendors, or simply browsing listings with your morning coffee — I invite you to consider making a donation to help support the site’s continued operation.

Even small contributions make a meaningful difference and help ensure the site remains available to you and fellow amateurs from coast to coast.
