KPC – 3YL+ Prototype Prom – 28 Pin
New Old Stock
In the late 1990,s Westinghouse Canada, Engineering Services Division
Started a project to communicate with remote power systems,
over mobile radio data links. One of the prototype units utilized
a stock Kantronics KPC3 with a custom E prom for control.
This was before Westinghouse entered into serious talks
with Siemens to sell the division. The proposed sale killed
the project before the this third revision of the E prom was installed.
As far as I remember instead of utilizing Standard ASCII protocols
They were going to use the Westinghouse INCOM Protocol.
That INCOM protocol was adopted by Eaton for use in the product lines
they acquired from Westinghouse. The protocol is still in use
in industry today
It is more of a piece of history than any thing else.
That is the limit of my knowledge of the E prom.
One would need to Read the E prom and compare it to a standard
Kantronics KPC3 E prom to determine what changes were made
