Beware VA6RBC
Buyers Beware ---
VA6RBC had posted a BS188 QRP rig on hamshack and was listed as one would expect it to work right out of the box. During a few telephone contacts with him, his indication was that everything worked and he never used it much at all. Me having full confidence in him, I bought it for $350.00 shipped to me.
When it arrived, it did not TX. I struggled with it and from Youtube and google searching, the first main step needed was to set the BIAS as per setup instructions, which I did. Still many other settings needed to get it going.
A day or so later I called him for a refund as this was not what I had expected and I would ship it back to him in the same condition for a full refund less the shipping cost. He punctuated he would accept it back for $100.00 less than I paid and I also pay return postage due to the fact that I adjusted the BIAS. (I did this as per setup instructions)
Obvious to me then was he may had never set up the transceiver, he kept dodging how to get it operating when i asked him about it and kept referring me to search the internet and Youtube. I also explained I have been a radio-telecom tech for more than 30 years and I am aware of how to align equipment with my shop professional service equipment.
I responded that he was being unfair as the BIAS and most other parameters were not properly aligned and adjusted when I received the rig. I also said that I may post his selling unfairness on the web, his reply was "I don't care."
Well fellow hams, here it is... BEWARE of VA7RBC sales.
I have got it working and output... 1.3 watts to 9 watts output maximum across the different HF bands.
