Kemptville Amateur Radio Group (KARG)

The Kemptville Amateur Radio Group (KARG), officially known as the North Grenville Amateur Radio Club with the call sign VE3NGR, is an informal assembly of amateur radio enthusiasts based in North Grenville, Ontario. The group convenes weekly on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 PM ET via the VE3NGR repeater, fostering a collaborative environment for members to share knowledge and engage in radio communications.

In a significant milestone, KARG is organizing its inaugural Ham Fest on March 15, 2025, at the WB George Centre in Kemptville. The event aims to become an annual gathering for radio enthusiasts, offering opportunities for networking, equipment exchange, and community building. General admission is set at $5, with free entry for children under 15. Vendors can reserve tables for $15, which includes admission, by contacting donkempt@gmail.com. Pre-payment is available via pay@ve3ngr.ca.

The group’s local repeater, VE3NGR, operates on 145.2500 MHz with a –0.6 MHz offset and a 110.9 Hz tone. Located at B&H Grocery Store in Kemptville, this repeater supports both FM and C4FM modes, automatically switching based on the user’s transmission. While its range is limited, it serves as a vital communication tool for local amateurs.
