Online Basic Amateur Radio Course

The new Basic Amateur Radio Course at Hamshack.ca is now available for registration. Updated to the latest ISED  question bank, this comprehensive online course includes everything you need to earn your Basic certification with confidence. All study material is provided on-line with no additional books or course material required to purchase, which means students may save up to $100 when compared to other current course offerings.

Written in clear, easy-to-understand language, each lesson features an easy-to-follow format with the official ISED Question Bank answers embedded directly in the lesson content. Lessons also feature QSL Summary Study Tables, interactive quizzes and diagrams. In addition, images of real amateur radio gear taken from hamshack.ca buy & sell listings are inserted in lessons. These real-world ham radio gear images help learners visualize the concepts and equipment covered in lessons.

The course is fully self-contained — no extra books to buy, no pressure, and no time limits. Study at your own pace…work through each lesson, confirm your understanding with the Lesson quizzes, complete the section quizzes before moving on to the final Practice Exam. When you’re consistently scoring 80% or higher, you’ll be ready to book your official ISED Basic Exam.

Hamshack.ca has teamed-up with  Gary Skett, VE7AS, an in-person course provider and Accredited Examiner, to help make the exam process simple. Just contact Gary (ve7as@shaw.ca) who will administer the Basic Exam on-line for a nominal fee of $20.

Introducing the QSL Tutor

Quizzes and exams include an interactive Quiz Tutor that helps students understand technical concepts such as basic electronics, circuits and calculations by explaining why answers are correct. It is especially useful for theory-based topics where understanding matters more than memorization.
