Silent Key Announcement – VE6ARG Tom Buchanan

I received some sad news this afternoon about the passing of VE6ARG Tom Buchanan after a courageous fight with cancer. Amateur radio has lost one its best…Tom was such a ‘fine’ individual who made so many contributions to the hobby over the past 56 years.

Tom had an extensive technical background which he brought to the hobby and loved to share ‘tips and tricks’ about his latest homebrew antenna and many other projects on Toms Notes.

Tom was a mentor to many and was always there to help, and in his words: ‘After 56 years of hamming and lots of experience, there are very few challenges I haven’t faced and licked when it comes to electronics and communications’

Over the past 6 years, Tom taught the Canadian Amateur Radio Basic Qualification course and helped over 50 hams to become licensed!

You will be sadly missed my friend.
