The Jerrold – Texscan Model 727 Field Strength Meter is a tunable
RF voltmeter for measuring signal levels between 10 Microvolts
and 3 Volts in the range of 5 – 216 MHz in 10 ranges.
The range can be extended with a special plug-in converter to
cover 470 – 890 MHz. (Plug-in converter NOT INCLUDED)
The instrument consists of a tuner/local oscillator unit, a balanced
mixer, and IF amplifier and a peak detector measuring circuit. It
also includes a video detector whose output is available at a
terminal. A discriminator, audio amplifier and a loudspeaker are

Only basic testing was done. The unit powers up and shows
signal strength on the meter and audio from the speaker.
The YouTube video shows this field strength meter operating
with a signal on the meter and audio from a local FM station.
The antenna used was just a 12in clip lead.
Includes 120 AC power cord, coax patch cable and matching
transformer. PDF manual that is very comprehensive including
schematics and service information.
This is a piece of quality commercial equipment that was very expensive when new,
well built and heavy. It is surplus to my needs and requires a new home.
