Jerrold 727 Field Strength Meter
The Jerrold-Texscan Model 727 Field Strength Meter is a tunable
RF voltmeter for measuring signal levels between 10 Microvolts
and 3 Volts in the range of 5 – 216 MHz in 10 ranges.
The range can be extended with a special plug-in converter to
cover 470 – 890 MHz. (Plug-in converter NOT INCLUDED)
The instrument consists of a tuner/local oscillator unit, a balanced
mixer, and IF amplifier and a peak detector measuring circuit. It
also includes a video detector whose output is available at a
terminal. A discriminator, audio amplifier and a loudspeaker are
also incorporated.
Power requirements – 115/230 or DC12-15 Volt (ext or batteries)
Audio – internal 2 inch speaker – power out – 0.15 W
Dimensions (WHD) – 13.25 x 8.5 x 8.25 inch
Only basic testing was done. The unit powers up and shows
signal strength on the meter. My YouTube video shows the
field strength meter operating with a signal on the meter and
audio from a local FM station. The antenna used was just a
12in clip lead.
Includes 120 AC power cord, coax patch cable and matching transformer.
