Here’s some very interesting information on a new COFDM data transfer that has been developed for amateur radio, which allows you to send simple SMS messages using your 2M (and perhaps) other radios and an app on your Android phone. This was passed-on to me by Andy VA3TKA

Andy has been testing the COFDM data transfer capabilities on the local repeaters with success and suggested that this mode could be extremely effective for use in Emergency Comms.
