HF Transceivers
An HF transceiver is a type of radio communication equipment designed for use in the high-frequency (HF) band, typically ranging from 1.5 to 30 megahertz (MHz). These radios are commonly used by amateur radio operators or “hams” for long-distance communication. Most HF transceivers support a range of modes, including single sideband (SSB), amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM), and continuous wave (CW). HF transceivers may also have features such as a direct RF sampling approach, which eliminates the need for a conventional superheterodyne system, dual conversion superheterodyne system, and an image rejection mixer. They are also available in portable formats such as the RS-918 SSB HF SDR HAM Transceiver and the Q900P portable amateur radio transceiver. Ham radio HF transceivers are typically able to transmit and receive on a variety of bands, including 10-, 15-, 20-, 40-, 80-, and 160-meter, and some may also cover the VHF and UHF bands. Many HF transceivers also have color displays, touch screen interfaces, and dynamic real-time spectrum scopes. Some popular models that you’ll find on hamshack.ca may include the Icom IC-7300, Yaesu FT-818ND, Yaesu FT-857S, and the Kenwood TS-590SG.
